Let me explain,
I thought 7 months was the exact amount of time to take off before I would get a flood of emails begging me to post again. Turns out I should have waited a little longer…
I was not disappointed however when yesterday (by an acquaintance, not a friend) I was asked “Are you still doing that blog thing?” To which I responded “Not really.” Then to my astonishment they retorted with “You should.”
I nearly slapped that person out of happiness right then and there. I have since been calling slapping someone in a fit of delight a Hapslap. I know it’s brilliant.
So here I am, I’ve been thinking long and hard about what to write about for this grand return. I then realized that I have had 7 months to be inspired by new material! So today I will titillate you with some new music and a new film or two. That should be enough to satisfy you savages.
If you listen to any band that remotely sounds like the very first Fall Out Boy album then you will enjoy these guys. They are called Search The City and their new album is called Flight. They are amazing. Below I have posted my favorite song off the album and then the second window is the full album. Now would be a good time to put your ear-buds in and tune out that noisy ass office.
Search The City- Whispers and Memories
Now wasn’t that just as delicious as dipping Oreo’s in peanut butter? I thought so. The next tasty track I have for you guys is from one of my all-time favorite bands Chiodos. These guys have been through it, they lost their vocalist Craig Owens for a while and made an attempt at another album called Illuminaudio… I don’t recommend it.
But Craig is back now and this new album called Devil has the potential to be their best record yet. Also- they have acquired The Fall Of Troy guitarist Thomas Erak who is to guitar what Bruce Lee is to Kung-fu. This unfortunately won’t be out until April 1st but until then enjoy these songs accompanied by some very film noir inspired videos.
*Forewarning: Some of this can be a little heavy.
Chiodos- 3am (this came out today)
Chiodos- Ole Fishlips is Dead Now
Now for some film. Originally I had planned to show a couple of horror films coming out, however, I have yet to see one that has been any good. Therefore, in honor of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, here is a clip from the film A Most Wanted Man that will be shown at this years Sundance Film Festival. It’s the story of a Chechen Muslim who illegally immigrates to Hamburg, where he gets caught in the international war on terror.
But First! I would be remissed if I didn’t say this: I have enjoyed any film this man has been in and is the primary reason I even gave The Hunger Games a chance, one of the best ever. RIP Phil.
Up next is a Wes Anderson film which I’m sure you have all heard about called The Grand Budapest Hotel. It literally has any actor who has ever been in a Wes Anderson film and also stars Ralph Fiennes. I am very excited.
Phew! So there it is. After 7 months of stagnation I hope those of you who check this out found some good tunes or are pumped for some good cinema (which is rare these days). More to come folks, I promise. Stay tuned!
